COVID-19: Nigerian govt explains why citizens should wear face mask at home
The Nigerian Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, has advised Nigerians to wear their face masks while at home if they are not sure of people around them.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Ehanire Osagie, said this during Thursday’s press briefing.
“Wear your masks in your house if you are not sure of the COVID-19 status of those you are living with,” Ehanire said.
He reiterated that the increase in new cases of COVID-19 is due to the increase in surveillance and testing.
“We have explained that the increase in COVID-19 cases is due to more testing as well as surveillance,” he said.
Ehanire said the PTD would continue to liaise with traditional and religious leaders on the best measures to curb the spread.
He warned that this is not a time to be careless, adding “We call on health workers to ensure they are protected.”
